The Outlook Fund
Volunteering
There are opportunities for volunteers to assist in the activities supported by
the Outlook Fund. Participation will be particularly welcome from students and
employees at colleges and companies which have sponsored the Outlook Fund.
Volunteering opportunities through Cambridgeshire County Council
Volunteers wishing to help the Saturday Just Us Groups for looked after children, run by Cambridgeshire County Council, will need to have:
- an enhanced Criminal Records Bureau Check
- two character references, one from an employer/tutor
- child protection training, which would be provided by the County Council
Volunteers will also need to make a commitment for at least one year to attending monthly meetings - there are 4 meetings around the County - plus helping with the Christmas parties and the annual Award ceremony.
If opportunities for volunteering with the Just Us groups are not available, either because they have enough help or the volunteer lives in a different area, there are also Young Carers groups. Anthony Moore in the County Council is leading on volunteering projects for Enhanced and Preventative Services working with vulnerable children and families. For anyone interested in volunteering with Just Us groups the best people to contact are either Caz Dunne or Mary Ogden 01223 703592.
